GMP-Kurs - Good Manufacturing Practice

GMP Basic Course (German), June 29 – July 3, 2026, Jenny Uhl, Lab Manager, Munich 

I have been working in academic research for nearly 20 years and took this course to familiarize myself with GLP, GCP, and GMP as I embark on a career change. The course organization is outstanding; everything ran smoothly—from registration, course materials, and evaluation forms to the final exam and certification. In terms of content, the individual lectures are well-structured and provide an excellent overview of the subject areas. The additional sessions on application processes, AI in GMP, and statistics were also helpful. Without exception, all the speakers for this one-week course come from the private sector, representing major pharmaceutical corporations and medium-sized enterprises. Beyond the theoretical fundamentals of GxP, they share insights gained from up to 30 years of professional experience. Their expertise in specific areas (production, quality assurance, quality control, etc.) is a tremendous asset for participants, who have the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with them. I found the company presentations—featuring the speakers' personal assessments of the current pharmaceutical job market—to be particularly valuable. The time investment is absolutely justified given the wealth of information provided. There were sufficient, well-spaced breaks to help us stay mentally engaged, and all speakers adhered to the schedule precisely. The speakers and the organizer addressed all questions raised by the participants. I am extremely satisfied with the course and can recommend it without reservation—both to those just starting their careers and to individuals looking to make a career change.

For me as a materials chemist—coming from outside the pharmaceutical sector and having had no prior exposure to GMP and the like—the course was nonetheless highly informative and interesting. It was an intensive week packed with information, but all the speakers did a really good job of conveying the material. I also found the final exam manageable.

The one-week course was extremely informative, varied, and practical. As a chemist in particular, I was able to pick up many application-oriented GMP tips. In addition, the course provided broad knowledge of GxP, including GLP, GCP, GDP, and other relevant areas. The organization was excellent.

I recently attended the GMP workshop and found it to be an incredibly valuable experience. The course was exceptionally well-organized, with instructors who were highly knowledgeable and brought real-world insights from their roles in industry-leading companies. As a PhD researcher at the Max Planck Institute, I gained not only a solid understanding of GMP principles but also a broader perspective on the dynamics of the industry. Transitioning from academia to industry can be challenging, and this workshop served as an excellent milestone in my journey. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to bridge the gap between academic research and the practical requirements of the industrial world.

GMP Online-Kurs 22. bis 26. Juli 2020, Christian Schmidt, Fachschaftsrat für Biowissenschaften und Pharmazie Leipzig

The course is an excellent introduction to the subject of GMP. The highly practical accounts from the industry regarding production, packaging, and documentation provide a particularly good visualization of GMP implementation for those who have never experienced it firsthand.
I also feel that the presentations on GLP and GCP are a valuable addition to the program, as they round out the entire process from active ingredient to finished medicinal product.
In my opinion, the presentations on regulations and computer system validation were very dry, making it difficult to follow the material.
Personally, I encountered some repetition of topics, given that I have already worked as an intern in a GMP environment several times. However, the statistics section was very helpful; the speaker conveyed the theory well and clearly illustrated the importance of statistics for decision-making in a GMP context. Furthermore, the speakers' insights into topics such as pursuing a PhD and starting a career helped me visualize a clearer path into the industry. This aspect should definitely be retained, as I believe many participants had not yet entered the workforce and showed great interest in the subject.

As a PhD student in chemistry (specializing in biochemistry), knowledge of GMP is essential. Many of my colleagues have already completed the GMP course at gmp_academy and are very satisfied with it; it was based on their recommendations that I decided to take the course myself. 

As I am nearing the completion of my doctorate, I hope to gain not only insight into the fundamentals of GMP but also new contacts, practical tips, and further information. Thank you very much.

I would like to thank the entire GMP team for the superbly organized GMP course in Munich. It not only provided me with valuable insights into working in the pharmaceutical industry but also offered a fantastic opportunity to network. Thanks to the renowned speakers, the presentations were extremely engaging, with their personal experiences and stories making the event a real highlight. I would also like to point out that, thanks to the organizers, the course is very affordable for students. I can highly recommend this course to anyone considering a future career in the pharmaceutical industry.

GMP Kurs Halle, Juli 2018, Julia Winkler und Jonas Herting

Als Vertreter des Fachschaftsrates vom Institut für Biochemie & Biotechnologie besuchten wir am Mittwoch, den 25.07.2018, den GMP-Kurs in Halle. Wir nahmen an den ersten zwei Vorlesungen des Tages (9.00 Uhr – 12.15 Uhr) teil.

Unserer Meinung nach, konnte der Lehrstoff von den Vortragenden gut vermittelt werden. Insbesondere die zur Erklärung verwendeten Beispiele halfen dabei den Lehrstoff nachzuvollziehen. Die Folien waren, teils mit Tabellen, übersichtlich gestaltet. Die Zusammenfassungen pro Themengebiet am Ende des ersten Vortrags (Grundlagen der Herstellung, Qualifizierung & Validierung; IDT Biologika GmbH) holten die Studenten immer wieder zum Vorlesungsthema zurück. Die Fragerunden als Abschluss der Vorträge schienen bei den Teilnehmern gut anzukommen. Das Skript ist strukturiert aufgebaut und machte das Nachvollziehen bzw. Mitlesen des Vortrags möglich. Insofern es möglich ist, könnte man das Skript anstelle der ausgedruckten Variante ebenfalls als PDF-Datei für die Kurs-Absolventen zur Verfügung stellen.

Grundsätzlich haben wir einen Einblick in den Verlauf des GMP-Kurses gewinnen können und sind als Fachschaftsrat interessiert an zukünftigen Veranstaltungen des GMPs.

GMP Kurs Leipzig, Februar/März 2018, Lisa Kutsche

Der GMP-Kurs war auf jeden Fall ein Bereicherung für mich, da man sonst selten so gut über Zuständigkeiten und Abläufe in der Pharmabranche informiert wird. Außerdem sind die Prinzipien, die durch Referenten aus der Praxis anschaulich vermittelt werden, sogar international und nicht nur in der pharmazeutischen Industrie anwendbar. Ich kann nun besser einschätzen, welche Positionen für mich in Frage kommen und mit welchen Aufgaben ich rechnen muss. Ich hoffe, dass mir die GMP-Kenntnisse den Einstieg in die Berufswelt erleichtern und ich schneller auf gleicher Ebene mit Kollegen kommunizieren kann. Vor allem an Studierende und Doktoranden in der Endphase an der Universität kann ich den Kurs empfehlen. Auch ich habe den Kurs gegen Ende meiner biomedizinischen Promotion am DFG-Forschungszentrum für Regenerative Therapien Dresden, wo ich an der Schnittstelle zwischen Stammzellforschung und Neurowissenschaften arbeite, besucht. Für die kommende Bewerbungsphase in Richtung pharmazeutischer Industrie sind das GMP-Zertifikat sowie die neuen Kontakte natürlich immense Pluspunkte.

GMP Kurs Halle/Saale, Juli 2014, Claudia Weißbach

Nach meinem Biochemiestudium und meiner Doktorarbeit wollte ich gern ins Berufsleben einsteigen, idealerweise in ein Pharmaunternehmen. Was mir dazu fehlte, war eine Zusatzqualifi-kation, die eine Brücke in die Pharmabranche  bildete. Glücklicherweise wurde im Juli 2014 an der Uni Halle ein einwöchiger GMP-Kurs von der Studentischen Förderinitiative für Studenten der Uni Halle angeboten. In dieser Woche konnte ich viele verschiedene Aspekte in puncto GMP kennen lernen (Validierung, OOS, deviation, Guidelines, GCP, usw.). Am meisten gefiel mir das Thema Projektmanagement und GMP. Nicht lange Zeit später, im Februar 2015, begann ich dann meinen ersten Job in der Qualitätssicherung eines Pharmaunternehmens in Baden Württemberg. Die ersten theoretischen Kenntnisse aus dem GMP-Kurs haben mir hier sehr geholfen, aber die größte Herausforderung ist es natürlich, die Theorie in die Praxis umzusetzen. Am besten gelingt dies immer durch learning by doing – so auch bei mir. Mittlerweile bin ich seit fast 3 Jahren in der Qualitätssicherung tätig und beschäftige mich hauptsächlich mit OOS, Abweichungen, CAPA und Reklamationen. Den Kontakt zu anderen GMP-Bereichen wie Audit- oder Änderungsmanagement hat man jedoch immer, da aufgrund von Abweichungen oder Reklamationen auch Änderungen oder Audits  initiiert werden. Generell war dieser GMP-Kurs sehr hilfreich und hat mir den Einstieg in die Pharmabranche ermöglicht.

GMP Statistikkurs Leipzig, März 2018, Karsten Pönitzsch, IDT Biologika GmbH

Statistik und Wissenschaft - na klar. Ich muss ja wissen, wie ich meine Experimente auswerte, ob ich den Ergebnissen trauen kann und wie ich Versuche sinnvoll plane. Von daher ist der Kurs für jeden Wissenschaftler oder angehenden Wissenschaftler mit statistischen Grundkenntnissen zu empfehlen. Die investierte Zeit zahlt sich aus, wenn man weniger über die Ergebnisse grübeln und aufgrund intelligenter Versuchsplanung weniger Versuche durchführen muss.

Statistik und Arbeit in der pharmazeutischen Industrie? Auch wenn das GMP-Umfeld sehr reguliert ist und man viel nur nach Vorschriften arbeitet und dokumentiert, lohnen sich tiefergehende statistische Kenntnisse. Immerhin müssen bei neuen Produkten, Prozesse und Methoden entwickelt werden. Und einmal festgesetzte Parameter müssen belastbar sein, da sie sich nicht so schnell ändern lassen wie im Experiment. Also ist auch in der pharmazeutischen Industrie messen und analysieren von Daten erforderlich. Bei der Entwicklung neuer Prozesse lohnt sich die statistische Versuchsplanung und das Arbeiten nach dem Quality by Design-Prinzip. Dazu muss man aber den Design Space kennen und definieren. Ein weiteres wichtiges Thema in der pharmazeutischen Industrie ist das Prüfen gefertigter Produkte. Oftmals sind die Prüfungen zerstörend. Also die Frage: Wie viele Produkte muss ich prüfen, um eine Aussage über meine Charge zu erhalten? Welches Prüfniveau brauche ich und welche Fehler kann ich mit welchen Häufigkeiten akzeptieren, ohne die Charge verwerfen zu müssen. Auf diese und weitere Fragen wird in einem lockeren und spannenden Umfeld im Statistik-Kurs eingegangen. Der Referent liebt die Statistik und kann die Euphorie für dieses Themengebiet gut den Teilnehmern rüberbringen - Ansteckungsgefahr inklusive.
